Stocking Stuffer Alert! Datevitation Love Coupon Book Review & Giveaway

Sponsored

When you were a kid, did you ever make a "coupon book" for one of your parents or friends as a gift? Think vouchers for stuff like breakfast in bed, "I'll be good an won't argue when you try to ground me" and so on. (Yes, that second one was a real one from one of mine. Oh, my lucky parents.) If "love coupons" are nostalgic for you or just generally up your alley, then I think you'll love the service I'm reviewing today: Datevitation!

So what is Datevitation, you might be wondering? Datevitation.com is the web's first online platform to create a custom "love coupon" book. Their site is absolutely FULL of date ideas and activity suggestions, all of which are illustrated to make your coupon book gift more special and fun. And unlike premade books, you can customize the coupons and text to your liking, plus even add your own faces to Datevitation's stock characters using the "Add Your Faces" feature!  Once you are done customizing your book, Datevitation prints it out on high-quality paper and ships it out to you. Easy! The books come in a festive letter-sized envelope and look like this:

I chose a "Merry Christmas" cover because I had the intention of using this as a stocking stuffer, but they have over 100 other covers you can use for different occasions.

In addition to the covers being customizable, the actual "dates" in Datevitation books are very customizable as well. Their library contains over 500 date ideas ranging from skydiving to stargazing to steamy adult-only activities (shhhh). These don't necessarily have to be for grown-ups though! Datevitation now has "boy" and "girl" characters, with over 200 new activity illustrations specifically for kids and parents. What does that mean? You could customize one of their books from pretty much anyone! The basic characters are also gender-neutral, which means they can be used for both heterosexual and same-sex couples, friends, family members, and so on.

The book creation process is pretty easy to figure out—just log onto their website, click "Books" at the top and watch the demo video for a quick tutorial.

I had the opportunity to customize my own Datevitation book, so I thought I'd share what I did to give you some ideas! (Or, y'know, so you could laugh at me.)

The first page after the cover is where you can include a special message to your recipient. If you have terrible handwriting you can actually type this in as you're creating your book, but I decided to leave it blank because I like hand-scrawling my greetings. Options!

Date #1:

Datevitation allows you to use their standard text for your date coupons, or customize it if you like. I maaaaaaaaay have customized this one a bit. Note that I took advantage of the "Add Your Faces" feature and included a very amazing picture of Stan.

Date #2:

Who doesn't love brunch? And yes, Stan really does make that face while he eats.

Date #3:

I think I left the text as-is on this one. Game night is pretty self-explanatory, though if you wanted to make the message more specific (e.g. Chess Night) then you could!

Date #4:

Breakfast in bed, a coupon book classic. Yes, that's what Stan looks like when he wakes up.

Coupon #5:

HE KNOWS WHAT HE DID. I'll admit that I couldn't wait until Christmas to give this to Stan, and when he saw this page he laughed so hard I thought he was going to pee his pants. He said "This coupon book probably should have just been 5 pages of this." Bad Stan!!!

Did you notice that each coupon page has a little area where you can mark off whether or not it has been redeemed? No sneakily using that doghouse coupon more than once!

For more date ideas, be sure to check out the Datevitation Library. These books normally cost $25 plus shipping for a five page book, but Datevitation has provided a special coupon for my readers that gets you $10 off AND free shipping—yay! Create your book and enter this code at checkout: PRETTYBIRD. Make sure to order soon if you plan on picking up one of these books for this holiday season, because the cut-off date for Christmas orders is December 13th.

Even better yet, Datevitation is giving you a chance to WIN one of their books! Aww yeah!

  6. If you really want a laugh you should look at the "adult" ones on Datevitation's website. I didn't choose any of those because I thought they might be a bit too risque, but they are pretty funny.
