Weekly Poll: There She Is....

Happy Wednesday, everybody! Hope you're adjusting well to New-vember.

This week's poll question is loosely inspired by a dream I had about being in a beauty pageant. Really, really loosely.

If you woke up one morning and discovered that you could only wear one type of attire for the rest of your life, which would you choose: Swimwear category or heavy, sparkly evening gowns?

I realize that this would never, ever, ever actually happen, but humor me here. And let's assume that weather/temperature isn't an issue. It's actually a tough call for me—on one hand the swimsuit is probably more comfortable, but on the other, it's hard to look elegant when you're basically wearing nothing but underwear all the time. Tough, tough choices. I'd probably go for the swimwear in the end because comfort is important to me, man.

How about you? Comfort or elegance?

  1. I'd go for evening gowns. I'm not comfortable showing much skin between mid-thigh and cleavage, so swimsuits are a no-go for me. As long as my evening gown has straps or an in-built corset (a proper one that can be tightened to the point it's difficult to breathe) or the perfect bra, I would be perfectly happy. I would be glamorous for the rest of my life! Also, I wouldn't want to buy a whole bunch of accessories to go with my forever swimsuit. Almost everything I have now is more suited to evening wear.

  2. I actually think swimsuit material usually feels pretty gross against my skin. (Especially when wet ugh.) Since I'm used to wearing dresses basically every day, what more difference would it make to just go ahead and pick the evening gowns? Maybe I'd gain some more confidence from it!

  3. Ooh tough question. Swimsuits aren't very comfortable in my opinion but neither are evening gowns, and I don't like dresses in general. However, they definitely look better so evening gowns it is! Plus at least you can wear dresses for any occasion, whereas swimsuits for formal events would be a bit... awkward.

  4. Elegance! Initially it would be fun dressing like a princess everyday but I can see that getting old.

  5. This one is tricky because I haven't been seen in a swimsuit for like over a decade. Haha. Maybe if it was a super unrevealing and comfy swimsuit, but I'd probably go for the gowns. :P

  6. Haha, I didn't even think about accessorizing the swimsuit. Not sure I have a lot of aquatic accessories either.

  7. Haha true. If I had to wear a WET swimsuit all the time I'd definitely go for the gown instead!

  8. Yeah but if EVERYBODY is wearing swimsuits at the formal event, would that be awkward? Perhaps you'd have casual and formal swimsuits for separate occasions. :P

  9. That's what I thought at first, but I feel like it would be easier to lounge around in a swimsuit. Probably a good thing that this is a totally made-up scenario! :P

  10. I haven't worn a swimsuit in at least a couple years so it's probably weird that I chose that, lol. I do *own* one though! :)

  11. I hate wearing swimsuits, so evening gowns all the way! :)

  12. Fair enough! Based on the responses so far, sounds like you'll be in good company. :)

  13. Evening gowns! If they were acceptable to wear every day, I would. Plus, swimsuits give me anxiety, and I have a fairly good body. (That was meant to not sound braggy, but ya know...) I love to dress up, and I'm having fewer and fewer reason to do so lately.

  14. I do wish I had more occasions to really get dressed up and decked out these days ... not sure I'd just want to hang around in my formalwear though, hah!
