Wow, can you believe that it's been over six months since I did a favorites list like this? Time gets away from you sometimes, man. I can think of a number of things I've tried and liked over the past few months, but I've decided to just to focus on stuff I've come across over the past month or two so this post doesn't take 800 hours to read. You're welcome?
I'll kick things off with something you may recognize....
TonyMoly Apple Hand Cream ($9)
I got this in the Memebox Lunar New Year Mystery Box and had a pretty neutral reaction to it at first. I have so much hand cream from beauty boxes that it's hard for me to get too worked up about a new one, y'know? And while the packaging is cute, I have a nearly identical jar in my collection from TonyMoly's Appletox Honey Cream. I still decided to open it and try it for whatever reason—good thing, because it's become a staple of my nighttime routine. The cream is rich enough that I don't feel like it will wear off the second I apply it, nor is it so greasy that I feel like it will stain my sheets if I wear it to be. And its' appliciously apple scent is to die for. The fragrance is a bit milder than Appletox, but that's probably for the best (unless you want to stay up all night creepily sniffing your hands).
ATRUE Real Black Tea True Active CC Cushion ($38)*
I reviewed this on my blog just last week. The short version: This cushion provides above-average coverage for a CC cream and a really natural finish. It's also suitable for really pale folk, which is a category I definitely fit into. I find myself reaching for it every day, even though I have other foundations to test... life is hard, I know.
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black ($16)
A surprising discovery from my February Birchbox. I say surprising because I generally don't like pen style liquid eyeliners—I find that they often dry out quickly and create awkward, imprecise lines. Not the case with Eyeko Skinny though—it hasn't dried out yet, the color is quite intense, and the tip is slim enough to draw fairly precise lines. Yay!
XO Memebox/Soothing Sista #EYELOVE SF Eyeshadow Quad ($17)*
This quad is just so freaking pretty. Like a hug made of roses (minus
the thorns). I'm particularly fond of Bae Area, the light/sparkly shade—yeah,
there's some fallout because it's glittery, but it's so pretty not to
wear. So I wear it. And then people say things to me like "I like your
EcoTools Sleek & Shine Finisher Hairbrush ($10.99)*
I got this brush in the Influenster Frosty Vox Box and didn't use it too much at first, but it's really grown on me over the past month or so. I've been trying to take better care of my hair lately, so on days when I don't wash my hair I'll use this to make it look nice and sleek rather than loading up with tons of silicone-y products. It's a great brush for the price.
Grapefruits, grapefruits, grapefruits! (PRICELESS)
Stan's dad subscribed us to the Harry & David Fruit of the Month Club as a holiday gift, and last month's fruit was grapefruit. I hadn't had a grapefruit in years (seriously, probably two years) and in that time I managed to forget how much I love them. It also didn't hurt that the grapefruits sent by Harry & David were enormous and ultra-juicy... mmm.
Television show: 1박 2일 (1 Night 2 Days, KBS2)
I don't really watch a lot of reality/variety type TV shows these days, but YouTube randomly recommended me an episode from the second season of this show, and I started watching it because I recognized several of the cast members (many of whom are actors) thanks to the ridiculous number of hours I've spent watching Korean movies and scripted TV shows. How to describe the premise of this show... it basically consists of several dudes (all celebrities, of course) taking a road trip or visiting a place of interest in Korea, then doing a bunch of stupid challenges related to the place or theme when they get there. That might not sound so interesting, but the rapport of the cast and utter ridiculousness of some of the challenges makes it very funny at times. Is there a limit to the number of times you can watch adult men play rock-paper-scissors for food? I'm not sure. But I haven't reached it yet. You can watch a lot of the episodes legally and for free on KBS World's YouTube channel, by the way.
That's it for my favorites this time... do you love (or hate) any of the things on my list? Would you like to see favorites posts from me more often than once every six months? Let me know in the comments!
