Weekly Poll | It's A Wash

Happy Wednesday, everybody! How's it going?

This week's question was inspired by something rather mundane: Chores. Most of us them, or at least fork over cash for someone else to do them. I was having a discussion with my boyfriend the other day about what type of laundry detergent to buy (exciting!) when I thought of this week's question....

Laundry detergent: Scented or unscented?

Simple enough. When I was a kid, my mom always bought Tide (which is scented), but after my folks split up I spent a lot of time living with my dad, who was solidly in the "buy whatever's cheapest" camp, which sometimes meant unscented. For a long time I followed my dad's example, until I started to realize that not all detergents are created equal... anyway, I think the conclusion I've come to is that I vastly prefer scented detergent. I know that unscented is better for sensitive skin, but using the fragranced stuff doesn't seem to bother me and there's just something satisfying about opening a drawer and being greeted with a fresh aroma.

So, how about you? Fresh or plain? (And was this week's question exciting or what?)

  1. Def scented. I got for the cheaper brand at BJs but I don't think i've ever used unscented detergent.

  2. That reminds me that I should look for a massive pack of detergent next time I go to Costco. But still scented, of course. :)

  3. I pick scented. And I typically go for something that smells like lavender or is similar but that isn't TOO overpowering.

  4. Lavender is one of my favorite scents for fabric care products too. It smells refreshing, but not as cloying as some vague "fresh" scents do.

  5. Some of the big brand scented ones give me contact dermatitis by my ladyparts, so unscented for sure. If we accidentally get scented I will use it for anything else but never underpants.

  6. I guess I like scented detergent. Actually, my mom just got a new washing machine that takes special detergent (it's one of those fancy super efficient machines), so she gave me all her Tide pods, which should last me for at least a year, because she had them on auto-delivery from Amazon. So I kind of don't have a choice about what detergent I use. lol

  7. That does not sound like a fun a time! I would avoid scented detergents like the plague if that happened to me.

  8. Hope you like the way Tide smells, I guess! I like those little pods, mostly because we have to wash our clothes at a laundromat. Much more convenient to carry down the street.
