One thing I often have trouble resisting is a good deal on sheet masks. They're an inexpensive pick-me-up for your whole face, and if you don't like a particular variety, it's pretty easy to swap them because most come individually wrapped. So naturally when Memebox released a mystery value box filled with Skin Factory masks, I couldn't resist! Oh, and I picked up a second box to give away to one lucky reader. :)
New to Memebox? They're an internet retailer of Korean cosmetics (and beauty boxes) with a presence in the United States, Korea, and China. Memebox is not a subscription-based service, and you can buy boxes whenever you choose. Pricing varies depending on the contents, and all Memebox orders over $30 ship free.
Skin Factory could probably best be described as "cosmeceutical" brand in that their products supposedly have medicinal-like benefits (and a rather clinical feel). Cosmeceutical products are not really recognized as a "thing" by the FDA, but the point here is that their focus seems to be on really transforming the skin. The box sold for $19—shall we see if it was worth it?
Skin Factory Solution A Plus Ampoule Mask x2 (value $8)
Solution A Plus Ampoule Mask is the best mask for people who suffer from hypersensitive skin. The mask sheet essence contains natural herbal oils and extracts that effectively fight pimple-causing bacteria while making the healing phase of the skin faster. It soothes aggravated skin by supplying proper moisture to the skin and helps prevent future damage to promote clearer, smoother skin.
Pet peeve time: Memebox only lists like... four ingredients for each mask on each product page. WHY?! Anyway, I transcribed the full lists from the package because I'm nice like that.
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Alcohol, Centella Asiatica Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Betaine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Allantoin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Dipotassium Glycrrhizate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Triclosan, Salicylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol [COSDNA]
This mask sounds like it would be really good for when my skin is having a hormonal acne freakout. In my mask bin it stays!
Skin Factory Vega Vita Plex Ampoule Mask x2 (value $8)
Problems with dull, unhealthy skin? Skin Factory’s Vega Vitaplex is one of Korea’s best selling face masks that sold over 1,000,000 pieces in just 1 day! It’s famous for its premium blend of ingredients that effectively brightens and boosts complexion in just 3 uses. It perfectly rejuvenates the skin by replenishing the skin’s moisture and nutrients resulting to healthier and fairer complexion. It is free from harsh radicals including parabens and mineral oil.
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerith-26, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panethenol, Camellia Sinsesis Seed Oil, Fragrance, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Sodium Hylauronate [COSDNA]
This mask was the spoiler for the box, so I decided to try it first. Behold my beauty:
Don't all fawn at once. The mask didn't fit my face all that well and kept sliding down, but it was tolerable if I laid down while wearing it. I was pleased with the effects though—my skin looked very supple and hydrated. Yay!
Skin Factory EGF Moisture Tox (Lifting) Ampoule Mask x2 (value $8)
Enhance your skin’s texture with Skin Factory’s EGF Moisture Tox Ampoule Mask. This mask focuses on the skin’s elasticity to make it firmer and less prone to early appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It not only enhances the skin’s texture but also strengthens it by providing a protective barrier that keeps the skin away from the environment’s harsh elements. This mask is highly recommended for those who suffer from dry skin.
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerith-26, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Betaine, Rose Centifolia Flower Water, Centella Asiatica Extract, Allantoin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Chondrus Chrispus (Carragennan), Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Fragrance, Ubiquinone, rh-Oligopeptide-1, Ethyxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol [COSDNA]
My skin gets way, way drier in the autumn/winter months, so maybe I'll save these masks until then. I like the idea of them forming a protective barrier on the skin—that sounds perfect to use during horrible winter weather, actually.
Skin Factory Aqua Skinin Ampoule Mask x2 (value $8)
Sudden weather changes may result in flaky, dry skin but fret not! Skin Factory brings you a highly moisturizing mask that will instantly help your skin recover from stubborn dry skin. This mask has Seawater, Almond oil and Sodium Hyaluronate as its key components which work in complete synergy to properly hydrate the skin. It also helps the skin recover from damage that may have possibly occurred due to the skin’s lack of moisture and nutrients. It is free from harsh radicals including parabens and mineral oil.
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerith-26, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Disodium EDTA, Sea Water, Tocopheryl Acetate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Tocopherol, Vegetable Oil [COSDNA]
More masks meant to battle dryness. These sound like they might be more appropriate for regular "I need a moisture boost" levels of hydration—there's no talk of forming barriers here.
Skin Factory Volcanic Ash Black 3D Mask x2 (value $6)
Skin factory’s Volcanic Ash 3D Black Mask focuses on removing skin impurities trapped in the pores and absorbing excessive sebum. It has a mix of salicylic acid, bifida ferment lysate and volcanic ash which efficiently detoxifies the skin while nourishing the pores for smoother skin. This mask is ideal for oily skin as its volcanic ash content absorbs excessive sebum and only maintain the proper level of moisture that the skin needs. It is free from harsh radicals including parabens and mineral oil.
Kudos to WishTrend, who actually had the full ingredients for this mask published on their product page. (Why not the others though? Grr....)
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin,Betaine, PEG-32, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Volcanic Ash, Albumen Extract, Salicylic Acid, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Lactobacillus Ferment, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Panthenol, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil [COSDNA]
3D masks are generally shaped differently to standard sheet masks—they often have a pointed nose and special darts and stuff that are supposed to help the mask conform better to your face. Unless you're me that is, and have a huge nose that barely fits under the flaps of normal sheet masks. Anyway, we'll see how this fits my face—but it sounds like a nice one to use on an oily skin day!
Total value: Approximately $38
I think the Skin Factory mask box was a good value for the money—even on sale these masks sell for around $3 each online. I found the fit of the one mask I tried to be clumsy, but I liked what it actually did for my skin, so I'm optimistic that the others will be good as well. Skin Factory does make products other than sheet masks—I would have loved to see a sample of their modeling pack in there as well, but what can you do? I was glad that there were two of each mask in this box though—there were one of some and two of others in the Leaders mask box, and that bugged me.
The Skin Factory value mask box is currently sold out, but knowing Memebox, they'll probably bring it back at some point (or another version of it). In the meantime, you can shop all the individual Skin Factory masks mentioned in this post at Memebox or WishTrend. Coupons:
