Taking Pasta Night on the road: Easy date night idea + a chance to win a Buca di Beppo gift card!

Here's a fun fact: Did you know that October is World Pasta Month? As I mentioned in my recent fall traditions post, Pasta Night is a bit part of our eating routine once the weather cools down—but just because it's cool enough to turn on the oven doesn't mean we want to cook every single night! Luckily, Buca di Beppo is in on the global pasta fun and running a very special promotion this month—Create Your Own Pasta Bowl! Stan and I decided to head over there last week for a little impromptu date night... read on to find out how we pasta'd it up!

For those of you not familiar, Buca di Beppo is a family-style Italian restaurant. "Family-style" means that they serve massive portions, designed to share... their "small" pasta is more than enough for two people having a random Tuesday date night, but if you're feeding a bigger group, a "large" is supposed to feed four or more! It's actually a great restaurant for groups and events—there's lots of space and fun, kitschy decor all over the walls. Something to talk about, for sure.

Stan's long-lost twin?

Buca always has a ton of classic dishes on their menu (e.g. baked ziti, chicken dishes, pasta marinara etc.) but Create Your Own Pasta is special because you can customize exactly what goes into your bowl, right down to the type of pasta. Here's what we ended up getting in ours:
  • Pasta: Rigatoni!
  • Sauce: Marinara (mmm zesty)
  • Veggies: Roasted red peppers, spinach, mushrooms (which were GIANT, by the way)
  • Protein: We skipped the meat, but you can choose from chicken, prosciutto, meatballs, spicy sausage or mild sausage if you're so inclined.
  • Extra seasoning: Crushed red pepper and poached garlic! Who says garlic breath isn't sexy?

It's also worth mentioning that Buca di Beppo has a pretty decent selection of wines and cocktails—Stan and I grabbed a couple of Buca Bellas, which are basically like lemony peach juice with a kick of vodka. Heavenly.

Drooling yet? If you have plans to visit a Buca di Beppo during World Pasta Month, be sure to enter their #PastaSelfie Instagram contest while you're there—one lucky entrant per day will win a $100 Buca di Beppo gift card! Visit the #PastaSelfie contest page for rules and more details.

Of course Stan and I had to try our hands at #PastaSelfie-ing before we ate it all up—here's what Stan came up with:

I think that's an accurate summary of how much he loves pasta. Here's mine:

I tried to be more demure, but my love for pasta is just as strong. Speaking of which...
