I'm sure some of you have noticed this, but Memebox has been rolling out all sorts of own-brand goodies on their global site recently. When I first heard that they were releasing a line of masks I didn't pay much attention until an Instagram post by fellow Meme-fan Fanserviced alerted me to to the fact that these are hydrogel masks. I looooooove hydrogels, and these are very reasonably priced ($3 each or less!), so I added one to my last Memebox shop order for testing purposes! And then a couple days later a two more Meme-masks showed up unannounced in my mailbox for review. Whoops. I'm not going to complain though, because these masks are pretty baller!

Product description from the Memebox shop:
"Enhance radiance, alleviate irritation, effictively illuminate, and create firm, resilent skin.  We bring you our very own Mememask Hydrogel Mask formulated with only the best ingredietns such as, Baobab Tree Seed Extract, Chamomile, Niacinamide and Adenosine, and Polyglutamic Acid, leaving your skin radiant and hydrated. "

Niacinamide and Adenosine are well-known brightening and anti-wrinkle ingredients, so I was excited to see them mentioned. Speaking of ingredients, here's the full list and instructions in English:

First of all, if you've never used a hydrogel mask before, here's what makes them superior to paper masks: They have a very bouncy (almost jelly-like) texture, which allows them to adhere more closely to the skin. Closer to the skin = better chance of absorbing beneficial ingredients from the mask. I also find the texture a little more comfortable on my skin than even the softest of paper and fiber masks.

Like most hydrogel masks, these come in two pieces against a plastic backing: A top part with eye holes and a bottom part with a mouth hole. Here's what they look like together on my face:

Sweet dreams! The fit on the Meme Masks wasn't too bad for me—I have minor fit issues with most masks around the bridge of my nose just because it's so damn huge, but otherwise it fit fine. I was impressed with how well these hydrogels held up on my face—some brands rip really easily when you try to adjust them, but these have some sort of fiber ribbing underneath the surface which helps them keep their structure longer.

In terms of effects, my skin appeared brighter and "plumper" immediately after use. I'm not sure if the ingredients are really concentrated enough to have long-term effects with repeated use, but as a quick skin pick-me-up? Awesome for the price. The only thing I don't love about the Meme Masks is the scent—they don't smell bad or anything, but they have kind of a zesty herbal scent that isn't really my preference in skincare. The plus side is that they don't smell overly "feminine", which maybe makes them more of a unisex product? (Not that guys can't use flowery-smelling stuff—my dude certainly helps himself to my lavender soaps and lotions.)

For me the greatest selling point of these masks is the price. You can get one for $3 or a pack of five for $10—I'm not sure I've seen hydrogel masks any cheaper than that, honestly. But yeah, decent quality + low price = I'm sold on the Meme Masks!

  1. I'm so glad that you liked them! Yeah, these really seem to be a good value and I've seen a few reviews mentioning increased skin plumping--that's pretty much what I'm looking for in a mask, so I'm a fan. woo!

  2. This masks sounds interesting. I haven't had the best of luck with paper masks because they look ridiculous so I start laughing at myself then it slides down my face. If this is more bouncy and gel like, it may stay on better.

  3. I think skin "plumping" is a basic expectation of mine from moisturizing sheet masks. These definitely delivered!

  4. Hahaha. I often make the mistake of trying to talk while wearing sheet masks, which never works out well. These will still probably slide off if you're laughing or talking... I actually saw this creepy hockey mask-type device that you can buy and wear to keep your sheet masks from sliding off. Not sure I want to go THAT far, but glad to know someone came up with a solution! :P

I'm a fan of two piece masks because I have a tiny face. At least with a two piece I can get the mouth hole where it's supposed to be without having the wrinkle everything up. :D I think I'm going to go put mine on now.

  7. That's definitely a good point! I wouldn't mind if more cloth masks were in two pieces for that reason. Hope you like the Meme Mask! Feel the bounciness!

  8. This is awesome! I was anxiously awaiting the day when Memebox would come out with some skin care goodies, and here we are a whole seven days later from this awesome day!

Love masks, but I favour the paper ones to hydrogel. There's something about the hydrogel that makes me think I look more deranged than the paper one which makes me look like a crazy ghost. Either way, I'm game to try this! To my next order!
