3 Things That Don't Suck: Roses, Roses, Roses

It seems like rose is one of those scents that people tend to love or hate. Personally I'm in the "love" category, but I've had many a friend tell me they thought rose perfume smelled old lady-ish. But they're wrong I tell you, SO WRONG!

Today I thought I'd show you three of my favorite rose-themed beauty products. I realize that this is not seasonally appropriate at all, but I've been using all three of these things on a daily basis lately so that must count for something, right?

1. Heritage Products Rosewater:
This is just a straight-up, plain old cheap spray bottle of rosewater. Why do I love this one so much? It like... smells better than other ones I've tried. I have no idea why, but it's true. Anyway, rosewater is one of those all-purpose things that's great to have around... you can use it in DIY toner and mask recipes, as a facial mist, to spray your boyfriend with after he's farted, etc. Classy stuff. Heritage also makes a version with added glycerin if you're looking for something a bit fancier.

2. Smith's Rosebud Salve:
Another classic multi-purpose product. It makes a great lip balm, brow tamer, chapped skin soother etc. And it smells great. Personally I like the vintagey look of the tin, but if you're grossed out by sticking your fingers into potted lip balm they also make a version in a squeezy tube now.

3. The rose-print hairbrush I got at Forever 21 this summer:
Forever 21 is known for their cute (and inexpensive) accessories, and apparently that cuteness is present in their beauty tools as well. Is this the finest hairbrush in the entire world? No, but this one cost something like $3 and is surprisingly un-shitty. Plus it looks nice on my vanity. This design isn't in stock on their website anymore, but they do have a number of other fun brushes.

What are your favorite rosey items? Other than actual roses, of course. :)

  2. I have the squeezy tube of the rosebud salve. Amazing stuff.

I think I'm guilty of not owning any other rose things though. Which definitely has to change.

  6. I don't use a whole lot of rose scented things, but I do like L'Occitane's Rose Hand Cream... Their creams just work wonders in the winter.
    Loving the brush!

  7. In general I can say that I am in the "hate" category because sometimes rose scent gives me headache O.O !!!
But once I tried a rose toner and I loved the result and its smell ( it was a gift from a Bulgarian friend ) . I think it depends from product to product ...
P.S. The hairbrush is so cute and feminine *w* !!!

    1. I think you're right, the scent varies a lot from product to product. It probably has to do with the type and amount of rose oil used.

  8. I have a pair of pajamas with rosebuds on them I really like, even though they are not the most sophisticated sleepwear I own. Also, I think my sister pinched my Rosebud Salve.

  9. ive seen these brushes in F21 too! and i do like them. was about to purchase one when i came across a brush that had a major awful dent on the brush bristles. I was afraid that it wouldnt last long on me so I didnt get it. seeing it here and hearing you say its not that bad kinda makes me feel regret for not getting it ^^
