Etude House Fresh Cherry Tints in OR202 & PP501. Limited Edition!

Etude House (the super-adorable Korean brand) recently released a couple of new Fresh Cherry Tint colors in celebration of their fifth birthday. Whether or not you care about Etude House and their birthday (or what kind of princessy pink cake is bound to be served at an Etude House birthday party), these new shades are pretty on-trend. And even if you don't care about trends, they're just plain pretty.

Of course when I saw them online, I couldn't resist. I'll be sharing some swatches and stuff, so if you like what you see, grab them while you can! They're still available on eBay and whatnot for the time being.

Moving on. Here's what they look like out of the package:

Each tint contains about 9g of product. I paid something like $6 shipped for each of them—not sure how these are priced in physical Etude House shops. If anyone has any insight on that feel free to share in the comments. Anyway, I like the shape of the Fresh Cherry Tints because you can actually stand them up on your vanity or whatever without them toppling over. The wand is equipped with a simple doefoot applicator. Exactly the same as the pre-existing (four?) Fresh Cherry Tint shades.

Confetti is fun but it makes the damn thing hard to read, Etude. Hand swatches:

OR202 is a coral-ish orange. PP502 is an orchid-y purple. But you probably could tell that.

One of the main reasons I like the Fresh Cherry Tints is that they're non-drying, as opposed to some of the more watery tints out there. The downside of that is that they don't have the same level of staying or staining power, but these last at least four hours on me before needing a touchup. You will have to reapply if you eat a messy meal whilst wearing them though. Have I mentioned yet that they have a pleasant, fruit scent? Because they do.

The colors look extremely vivid in the hand swatches because I have it gooped on pretty thick, but a single coat will actually result in a very subtle flush of color. Two coats is ideal for me because it's enough to make each color stand out without looking too garish. Lip swatches:

Not the best pictures (thanks crappy phone cam!) but I think they're pretty true to color.

Overall impressions:
I like the new Fresh Cherry Tint colors. I was already a fan of the formula, and these new shades seem very appropriate for the season. At $6-$7 apiece (which is what they're going for on eBay) I think they're well worth picking up.

Where to buy:
I suspect that most of the major Korean resellers are carrying these, but eBay is probably the best way to go if you're not planning to haul a bunch of other stuff at the same time. I got mine from rubyruby76, but they seem to be out of stock at the moment, so I'd check out this listing from f2plus1 (whom I would consider to be reputable) or do a general eBay browse. Remember to read feedback carefully if purchasing from an unknown seller. And don't forget that these are limited edition, so you'll want to grab them before it's too late!

What do you think of these new Fresh Cherry Tints? Which shade do you like better?

  1. I like both colors. I just tried samples of the fresh cherry tints but I really do like the formula. As soon as I emptied some of my tints I want to buy the red colored one :)

  2. Ooh the orange-y one looks nice! A hint of orange but not so much that it looks like a traffic cone when applied. I'm a sucker for anything that smells yummy so thank you for feeding my addiction :D

  3. Sooo cute!!! Ebay is a good deal, as the non-limited editions are $11 on Pretty & Cute! I'm gonna go visit Ebay now...see ya! Thanks for sharing! xo

Those look great! I don't think I can wear those particular colors, but I might check out the others.

  6. These sound and look lovely. I really like the purple shade. I would prob try these out if they were available in a store. I really don't buy makeup online THAT often. Mostly in stores.

  7. I like the orange one because it would definitely warm up the complexion, but the orchid shade looks really pretty, too. As long as the scent is fruity and not actually cherry, then I wouldn't mind picking up one of these in the future!

  8. These are so cute! Both colors add a really nice flush to the lips. I like how pigmented yet sheer these are. May have to place an order. Cute packaging plus a good product is pretty hard to pass up!

  9. I have some samples of the red one and I like it a lot! I think there are only six shades total (including these) so it wouldn't be difficult to get them all. Not that I need so many new lip tints. :P

  10. Haha, yes! I know orange is trendy at the moment but I think coral or subtly orangey things still suit me better than straight up traffic cone.

  11. Pretty & Cute is reliable (as in they don't sell fakes or anything like that) but their prices are usually a lot higher than the Korea-based resellers! But they do ship from within the US. Tradeoffs, I guess.

  12. Yeah, I think the orange one would probably suit a wider variety of skin tones! It's not full-on orange so it's pretty flattering.

  13. They have some other, less "crazy" shades... a red, a baby pink, etc.

  14. Oh how I wish there was an Etude House store in America! They have shops all over Korea (and some other countries as well) but no luck for us. Their makeup is cute and cheap!

  15. They definitely smell like fruit (berries, but maybe not cherries precisely?) I see a couple of fruit extracts in the ingredients list but I'm not sure if those are responsible for the scent.

  16. Yes, definitely! Etude House is a great brand if you love cute packaging. And it's not terribly expensive.

  17. Tru dat. I don't mind waiting for stuff if I order from overseas, like Sasa. I am paranoid about counterfeits on Ebay, but like you said, if you research the seller/feedback, you should be okay!

  18. Yeah, me too. I can be extremely patient if it involves saving money, haha.

  19. Oh wow they are much more pigmented than expected! I have dry lips and avoid drying products so I'm glad to know they're not drying either. Hmm, I might have to snatch some up! :p

  20. Yeah me too! You do need to build a bit (2-3 coats) to get that kind of color though. But it doesn't look weird or goopy when you do that.

  21. The curvy packaging is adorable. I'm sort of surprised these don't have fun names to go with the cute packaging.

  22. Cute name challenge! What would you call them?

  23. I'm digging that soft orchid colour <--- As soon as I typed it I realized how pretentious that sounded but that was literally my authentic first thought lol

  24. That doesn't sound pretentious to me! My first authentic thought was something like "HAYYYYYY PURPLY" but writing that in my review would probably make me sound ... simple.

  25. Perfectly Polished Pretty Purple and Continuously Contented Cantaloupe. How'd I do?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Quite well, I think. Though we'd have to change the formula to smell more like cantaloupe for extra contentedness. The pretty purple is already polished well enough.

  27. Never tried any of the Korean brands but seeing all these pretty packaged products make me wonder whether I should. The colors are gorgeous especially the one with the purple hues. They both are perfect summer colors and sound like great finds. XO, Elif

  28. I definitely think you should! There are lots of affordable and nice beauty options from Korea, assuming you don't mind waiting for international shipping.

  30. Really can't go wrong with the cute packaging of Etude House :))) I only bought the PP501, because for me OR202 may seem a bit identical on their OR201, on the first look unless you look it carefully :)))

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't have OR201 so I wasn't too concerned with getting a dupe, but they do look pretty close!
