Scent of the Day Challenge - JOIN ME! (One of us, one of us...)

Hey, it's a different month now! How about a brand-new beauty challenge?

If you're anything like me, you have billions dozens of perfume samples tucked away in a drawer somewhere. Or hell, maybe even full bottles. My fragrant hoardpile comes from an unyielding love for testing out indie fragrance oils and signing up for beauty sampler boxes - and thus the vials piled sky-high.

Now of course there are certain fragrances in my collection that I love and wear all the time, but there are plenty of others that I tested maybe once or twice and forgot about. I was organizing my collection when it hit me - why not do a Scent of the Day challenge?

Here are the rules:
  • Challenge participants must wear a different fragrance every day in the month of May - no repeats!
  • Things like body sprays and heavily scented lotions count.
  • The challenge should be documented some way - in a blog post, on social media, whatever. I'll probably write my daily choice on Twitter or something and then write a weekly blog roundup.

I have no idea if a similar challenge already exists, so please excuse me if this idea isn't terribly original. But I'd love it if y'all also wanted to participate - use hashtag #HPBScentOfTheDay so I can stalk your choices on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. And if I'm the only one who ends up doing this... homeschool high-five.

Will you be participating in the challenge? Am I the only one who has more than 31 individual perfume samples? Maybe I need help.

PS If you're wondering about my final post for the April photo challenge, I'll be putting that up at some point later today.

  1. Sorry. Can't do it. With as much fun as I have buying a random bottle of juice and hoarding spritzes, I don't come close enough to 31 flavors of fun. Twenty days might be a stretch for me.

  2. I was surprised by how many I had... I thought it was about 20 or so too, but when I counted it was really more like 50. Eeep.

  3. Giveaway? Or can you not possibly part yourself from Nic Cage?

  4. A lot of them are tiny sample vials so they're not exactly in my way. I just feel like the lesser-used ones should get some love this month! And Nic Cage is DEFINITELY staying with me. Aside from being handsome he also smells nice.

  5. Gross thought: I bet if Nicolas Cage bottle his own sweat people would buy it.

  6. 1. If anyone could, Nic Cage would.
    2. Ebay.
The bidding may even be going on as we type.

  7. I hope his PR people are reading this.

  8. bahaha I don't own enough perfumes to wear a different once each month but I do have more than the normal person. I tend to stick to the same maybe 5 or so though.

  9. Yeah, a Nic Cage giveaway would be awesome. I mean for the perfume. Although winning him a in a giveaway would be something.

  10. I probably have enough perfume samples to do this. Should I be admitting that? There are all just boring samples though. Nothing as cool as indie fragrances.

  11. I dunno... he probably eats a lot.

  12. "Boring" samples are fine too. I have some of those that I'll probably bust out this month.

  13. Yeah, same here. I only have a few full-sized perfumes, which are mostly ones I've sampled and liked enough to buy more of... funny how that works.

  14. What a unique idea! I've got around 30 perfume samples/bottles so I'll participate, but I guess it'll be a one-month only thing.

  15. Yeah, I think it would be hard to do this every month... unless you're buying at least as many new perfumes! I don't do that, but I'll bet there are people out there that do.

  16. Same - I could probably eek out 20 days with different fragrances. A full 31 days is a nice problem to have, though!

  17. Aw sounds like fun! I am super weird about fragrance though I think I've worn the same one for like, a year or more. I got a new perfume for Christmas and haven't even opened it.... Don't tell my husband!

  18. Sounds like a lot of fun! You would probably have better luck with my husband having that many cologne samples than me perfume.....LOL! I am sad that I can't wear perfume every day due to you already know!!!!

  19. Haha, I won't! I tend to favor certain types of fragrances (TONS of florals in my collection) but once in a while I'll buy a sample of something just because it sounds unusual or weird. Maybe not the most practical way to shop, but it keeps things interesting.

  20. Haha, I actually wasn't sure how many people would have a whole month's worth. I mean I know there are some people who do because I lurk in indie cosmetics forums and fragrance forums and stuff like that, but you're right - the average person probably doesn't have 30-ish perfumes lying around.

  21. Oh, I know! You're definitely excused from this challenge. :)

  22. I'll do it with you! In fact, I wore a different fragrance today than yesterday so I'm already doing good. With all the Sephora ordering over the years I have more vials then I care to admit. I'll probably just write a cumulative blog post and tweet/insta the fragrances I actually end up liking along the way. :)

  23. Yay! Your plan sounds like a solid one. I'm surprised that there aren't more people who say they have enough for exactly the reason you said - Sephora orders! But whatever, glad to have you on board. :)

  24. This is such a great idea! Now, I'm trying to remember if I wore a scent yesterday! I may see if I can take on the challenge!

  25. Awesome! I'd love it if you joined in, even if it's a day or so late!

  26. seeing as we're halfway through the month of May, I may just have enough scents to do this so count me in!

  27. Yes, feel free to jump in! I'm always curious to see what fragrances other people are using.
