R. | Plan your fantasy vacation!

Happy Wednesday, everybody! How's life treating you?

Right now I'm in full on "ahhhh I have to get ready for vacation" mode. By "vacation" I mean my annual trip to Chicago to visit friends, which is happening at the end of this week. Wish I was going on a slightly more epic journey this summer, but hey, it's better than nothing! Which brings me to this week's question:

If time/finances/etc. weren't a consideration, where would you most like to go on vacation this summer? Or if you don't have a specific destination in mind, what would you like to do?

I have a bunch of destinations in mind, but mainly I'd like to go somewhere I haven't been before. Doesn't even have to be that exotic... I've never been to Seattle, for example. What's there to do in Seattle? I don't know! Maybe I want to find out. But if I really had a lot of time to kill, maybe I'd do one of those Alaska land/sea tours... I'm not big into cruising just for the sake of cruising, but I do like seeing amazing scenery. Going overseas is also a thing... lots of countries I've still never visited. But I can only be so many places at once!

How about you? Where would you go and what would you do?

  1. Seattle is great for just strolling around the city. The last time I was there, I hit up the art museum (and meant to see check out the Experience Music Project, but time didn't allow it), ate at some Italian restaurant, walked around the market, and then found the Doc Martens store and bought a pair of boots. A few days is all you need in Seattle, I think.

My dream summer vacation might be just to visit New York again, or see San Francisco for the first time. Maybe I'll do both since I have two weeks off at the end of August. :P

  2. I love to travel! If money and time allowed that is what I would do with my life. There's much of Europe I haven't seen yet, so I would probably do that first. Then, I would go to Japan. I was lucky enough to go on an Alaskan cruise several years ago, and it's great. Definitely worth it even if you aren't into cruising. You should do it if you get the chance!

  3. Have fun in Chicago! I've never been to Europe so going there would be cool or some tropical island. I'm actually going to Martha's Vineyard the first week in August with some family and friends. It's an island off of Massachusetts. I'm really looking forward to that.

  4. I have so many places on my travel bucket list, but tops are Yosemite, Bali, Ireland, and South Korea. If I had to choose I think I'd pick Ireland!

  5. That sounds nice. The west coast of North America is still largely unknown to me - other than San Francisco. I went there once for several days. Parts of that city are sketchy as hell, but others are really beautiful and fun. Guess the same could be said about almost any city though.

  6. If I ever do get the chance, I certainly will! I haven't been to Japan either. Someday....

  7. Thanks! And have fun at Martha's Vineyard. I actually went there once as a kid, but I was so young that I barely remember it, lol.

  8. That's quite a varied list! I've never been to Ireland either, which is funny because it's a really short flight away from where I went to grad school (in Scotland)... oh well. When I worked as a travel agent I would occasionally see absurdly cheap flights from NYC to Dublin pop up, so maybe it would pay to start stalking Kayak or something, haha. :)
