I have some good news for all the skincare fanatics out there: UNT Skincare now has a US/global website! UNT, for those of you who aren't familiar, started in Taiwan in 2004 and specializes in results-driven products at reasonable prices. For example, one of their most popular products is EX White Laserwave brightening serum (which contains 5% Mandelic Acid and 3% m-Tranexamic Acid), but they have a wide variety of products addressing other skincare concerns (not to mention a whole line of makeup and nail products!)

UNT Pore Minissima Super Anti Shine Oil Control Serum #UNTbeautytalk

I recently got my hands on UNT's Pore Minissima Super Anti Shine Oil Control Serum to try, which promises to blast shine and control oil. Here's the thing: I don't have oily skin all over my face, but I do have classic combination skin. I tend to treat my face mostly for dryness because having tight, dry skin drives me insane, but my nose gets about 10x oilier than the rest of my face by the end of the day even if I don't moisturize it as much (as do my forehead and chin, to a somewhat lesser extent). As I'm sure anyone with oily or combo skin knows, this can be a problem because makeup tends to melt off those spots faster, which looks... odd. I've been on the lookout for an anti-shine serum I could use as a spot treatment of sorts, so on my face Pore Minissima went! Here are all the juicy (but not oily) details.

Brand product description:
Instant and lasting anti-shine power. This clinically proven, all-inclusive serum effectively controls oil throughout the day and at night. In minutes, this formula visibly minimizes the appearance of oily shine while calming irritated skin.  PORE MINISSIMA is formulated with ingredients of unmatched strength and efficacy to control and reduce shine. Sebaryl® FL LS 9088 controls sebum secretion leaving the skin instantly shine-free while Panadoxine P, an extra stable form of Vitamin B6, provides lasting shine control for clearer, smoother skin day after day. AC.NET™ and Hyaluronic Acid are also infused to decrease inflammation and increase hydration to create this super anti-shine formula that does not irritate or dry up the skin.  Use in the day as the perfect primer for makeup that lasts all day and at night as an extreme sebum-regulating treatment for clearer skin day after day. Suitable for very oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin. Free of alcohol.

You can read a bit more about Sebaryl® FL LS 9088 here if you're curious. Spoiler: No, it's not a futuristic robot sent to destroy Earth. Oh, and that's right folks, you read correctly: This serum is alcohol-FREE! Speaking of which, here's the full ingredients list:

I was also pleased to see that there weren't eight billion silicones near the the top of the list, because while they certainly have pore-blurring abilities, they don't help with shine.

Pricing/availability:
UNT Pore Minissima is priced at $26.99 for 35ml/1.2oz and is available from Amazon and ShopUnt.com. If purchasing from the latter, use coupon code UNT10OFF to get 10% off any ShopUnt order (expires October 31st, 2015). UNT Pore Minissima Super Anti Shine Oil Control Serum pump bottle

UNT's Pore Minissima is housed in a slim (but sturdy) bottle with a pump dispenser. No complaints in this department—the container is attractive, hygenic and convenient to use.

UNT Pore Minissima Super Anti Shine Oil Control Serum texture

The serum itself has a runny, milky consistency. It smells like... well... nothing. Not a bad thing. Once rubbed into the skin, Pore Minissima turns sort of watery and absorbs quickly.

Now for the true test: ULTIMATE NOSECAM. As I mentioned before my nose is the oiliest part of my face, so I decided to take some close-up no-makeup snaps of my beak (CA-CAW!) to track its efficacy. Warning: Sebaceous filaments ahead!

UNT Pore Minissima Super Anti Shine Oil Control Serum before and after

As you can see, Pore Minissima provides a slight mattifying effect right off the bat. But how does it fare several hours later?

Six hours later and it's still not an oil slick! SUCCESS! I tried the serum under similar circumstances on multiple occasions (minus the hardcore nosepics, sorry) and got similar results, so I would say it's effective in terms of its abilities to limit shine. I'm also pleased to report that it doesn't pill up under makeup or additional layers of moisturizer, so it's truly suitable for use during the day. My boyfriend even remarked one day that my forehead looked shinier than my nose... thanks dude? But it only confirms my thoughts about UNT.

On a semi-related note, if you ever want to feel self-conscious, I highly recommend taking a series of close-ups of your nose, hahahaha. My pores look pretty much invisible to me when I gaze at myself in the mirror, but right up in there... yowsa.
