Halloween Stupidity: Fright Night Eyeliner "Tattoos" w/ Rhinestones

Bought It

Do you ever have one of those moments where you buy something on an impulse, look at it later and then think "What in hell did I think I was going to do with this? I'm an idiot!" That pretty much sums up my feelings after purchasing Fright Night's Eyeliner Tattoos with rhinestones, which I threw in my cart along with some concealers and other boring stuff I got at Ulta recently. But rather than let it be a total waste, I decided I'd use them and blog the results so you all can laugh at me.

In case you're wondering what Fright Night is, it's one of those cheapie brands that pops up in drugstores around Halloween. Colored hairsprays, false lashes, stuff like that.  I've seen a bunch of displays of "eye tattoos" around... temporary tattoos for your eyes? Sounds intriguing. But look at the instructions:

So wait... you stick these to your eyelids and then don't peel them off until it's time to remove them? Those aren't tattoos folks, they're STICKERS. I just bought a bunch of pointy stickers to put near my eyeballs. What the hell is wrong with me?

Of course I still tried them on. For science. Here's the before and after using the middle pair:

Left: Mascara only - Right: Mascara + Fright Night Eyeliner Tattoo

Um... yeah. If you blur your eyes a bit it looks like I'm wearing normal eyeliner that's really shiny for some reason. You can't see the rhinestones unless you're up pretty close, and of course the part of the sticker that points in towards the tear duct is pointy and ow. Here's a close-up:

The rhinestones are sort of cute, but totally in the wrong spot for my eye shape. And if one really wanted to wear rhinestones, one could purchase self-stick rhinestones and stick them on individually in a more conspicuous place. I don't think it would be that difficult with three small stones on each eye. Also... is using regular eyeliner that difficult? Do we really need stickers for that? I'm confused.

So yeah, I'm an idiot and I have no idea what the hell I was thinking when I bought these. I don't think I'll be using the rest of the package on my face, but I'm thinking it might be funny to stick them on a piece of paper and give my fridge glitzy eyeballs or something. Maybe.

Where to buy: Not sure why you would want these, but in case you do, here's a list of drugstores that carry Fright Night. I got mine at Ulta.com but they don't seem to be on the website anymore.

What's the silliest thing you've ever bought on an impulse?

  1. I saw something similar to Sephora and I read about Etude House eyeliner stickers somewhere ( I don't remember where ! ) ...well , it seems to me that these kind of stickers aren't so easy to use as they should be >.<
And the effect is very questionable ...

    1. Yeah, it seems like a fun idea but the results are not so impressive. They're also slightly uncomfortable.

    1. Personally I would be worried about it peeling off during the party. I can't speak for all eyeliner stickers, but these aren't too sticky.

  3. I've always thought eyeliner stickers would end up peeling off and poking me in the eye, etc. Lol. Still, they're not the worst novelty purchase ever. I'd end up giving them to a cousin just discovering make-up or something.

    1. True... now that you say it, I bet my teenaged cousin would probably get a kick out of something like this.

    1. Hah, thanks! The flower clip is just a cheap one from H+M. The stickers are slightly uncomfortable... not because of the rhinestones though, but because the part that points inward towards your nose is sort of sharp.
