Review: Kuan Yuan Lian Cucumber Water Spray

Bought It

It's official: The heating in my apartment is totally drying out my skin. Which is why I'm glad that I have an array of facial mists on hand, including Kuan Yuan Lian's Cucumber Water Spray. Today's review was requested by Yomi C in the post about my last Sasa haul... which I made almost a month ago, yikes. I'm a bad blogger for just getting around to it now! I will be writing up a review of the Bio-essence Lifting Cream in the near future as well for those who were interested.

Kuan Yuan Lian Cucumber Water Spray

Here's the official description from Sasa.com:

[Cucumber Water Spray] replenishes skin with soothing and hydrating essence. Leaves your skin refreshed, soft and refined. Suitable for skin after sun exposure. Cucumber Water Spray is easy to carry around. Country of origin: Taiwan

This product is available in a variety of sizes - personally I went with the smallest one (50ml + a 50ml refill) because I hadn't tried it before and wasn't sure what to expect. Here's what it looks like out of the box:

The nozzle on this bottle is nothing special but it dispenses the spray finely and evenly. There are more sophisticated bottles out there that dispense an even finer mist, but this certainly gets the job done. The bottle feels sturdy and 50ml is the ideal size for carrying around in your bag or purse.

As for the ingredients... well... I don't know what they are. All of the writing on the package is in Chinese, and I couldn't find any information online in English. I've seen this listed as both snake melon and luffa water across the web, and while those things are slightly different they are both members of the cucumber family, so I think it's safe to assume that this product contains some sort of cucumber extract. :P I'll show you a photo of the box... can anyone tell me what it says?

As for the claims in the product description, I think it does live up to them: It's soothing and refreshing while being mild enough to use on irritated skin. I think one of the biggest selling points of this mist is its lack of fragrance... it doesn't really smell like anything. Maybe just a very mild (but natural-smelling) "fresh" scent if we're sniffing really hard. If you're sensitive to strong scents or just worried about fragrance as an irritant in general then this mist may be a good choice for you.

I'm not really sure what else to say since I don't have much info about this product's ingredients... I use facial mists to keep my face from feeling hot and dry, and this works just fine for those purposes.

Bottom line: Kuan Yuan Lian Cucumber Water Spray is refreshing and a good value at $5 for the 50ml+50ml set. You might want to put this on your wishlist if you avoid heavily fragranced products!

Where to buy: I got mine off Sasa.com. You can find this brand on some other web-based shops based in Hong Kong and Taiwan, though other than Sasa I'm not sure which ones to recommend - suggestions?

Have you ever used anything by Kuan Yuan Lian? What are your favorite facial mists?

  1. I never heard of Kuan Yuan Lian products before...it seems an interesting product ! It 's a good thing that it smells like anything , usually just like you I don't like strong scents .
I just use Avene Thermal Spring Water as facial mist , but the regulator tends to get clogged and I hate it !!!
