Crazy Rumors Lip Balm Review + Cheap Deal Scenarios

Affiliate Links PR Samples

OK lip balm addicts, listen up. This post is for you. Today I'll be sharing a couple of mini reviews of Crazy Rumors' awesome lip balm (reg. $3.49-$4.99 each), plus a couple of deal scenarios so you can stock up on the cheap. Why is it awesome, you ask? Well, you'll just have to keep reading to find out!

For the purposes of this post I'll be looking at three flavors: Coral Hibiskiss, Orange Bergamot, and Pistachio. But those are far from your only Crazy Rumors flavor choices. Nay, they have dozens of them. You can browse the whole catalog on their website, though the best deals may be found elsewhere - more on that later. But first, ooooh, lip balm:

Left: Hibiskiss in Coral - Right: Pistachio

I was sort of hoping that the Pistachio balm would smell like actual pistachios, but it's really more like pistachio ice cream. I still feel OK about that. Orange Bergamot smells very faintly of tea me, heavy on the citrus. "HibisKiss" refers to the range of Crazy Rumors tinted balms, which are pigmented with mica. I'm not sure about all of them, but the one I have (Coral) has a delicious fruity scent. Swatch:

I'm not sure I would exactly describe this color as color, but it adds a bit of pretty pigment and shine in any case. One of the really special things about Crazy Rumors is that ALL of their products are vegan and cruelty-free. Vegan lip balm can actually be a bit of a rarity because animal-derived ingredients such as beeswax and lanolin are extremely common in these types of products, plus lipsticks/tinted lip colors often contain carmine, which comes from insects. So if you've been flirting with the idea of veganizing your entire beauty routine, you need these!

Aside from the awesome flavor selection and sexy niche-ness, I also like the fact that they're moisturizing. Yes, that's a quality I look for in my lip balms, believe it or not. Anyway, there's not really much more I can say about this type of product, so let's move on to the deal scenarios, shall we?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SCENARIO ONE: SHOPLATELY

ShopLately is an online marketplace (sort of like Etsy or eBay) and Crazy Rumors has a storefront there. New ShopLately customers can get a $10 credit added to their account by signing up via Facebook here. While you have to spend at least $50 to get free shipping from Crazy Rumors, their rates on smaller orders are still very affordable. Here's what you need to do to get the deal:

  1. Go here and sign up for a ShopLately account via Facebook. You will automatically get $10 worth of credit added to your account.
  2. Add $15 or more worth of Crazy Rumor balms to your tote. Please note that ShopLately credits can only be redeemed on orders of $15+.
  3. Input your information and go to the checkout. It should add a very reasonable $2.99 for shipping if your order is under $50, and look a little something like this:

Four lip balms (including a tinted HibisKiss) for around $8. That's a pretty good deal, especially when you consider that these usually go for $3-$5 each. By the way, did you spot the "Mystery" balm in my cart? I'm totally intrigued.

WHAT IS IT?!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SCENARIO 2: IHERB

iHerb is an online store that sells vitamins, natural food and beauty, and other stuff like that. Their regular prices on Crazy Rumors are a bit lower than ShopLately ($2.77 for regular balms, $3.96 for HibisKiss), but you need to buy more to make the most out of this scenario. That said, if you really want to stock up or get a lot of these as party favors and you're a new iHerb customer, this is the way to go. Here's what you do:

  1. Click on my referral link - this will automatically add the discount to your cart. New customers get $10 off orders subtotalling $40+ or $5 on orders under $40.
  2. Add $40+ worth of Crazy Rumors balms to your cart.
  3. Orders over $20 (NOT including the new customer credit or other discounts) get free shipping within the mainland US, so you should see a $0 shipping charge if you're in that area. It should also be noted that iHerb does ship internationally and to the US outlying states/territories, but there might be additional fees.
  4. $10 should be subtracted from your order, which means you get $40 worth of already-discounted balms for around $30. Now of course I don't know what one would do with 15 lip balms, but that's your problem.

I hope this post has helped enable your lip balm hoarding habits. I'm going to go sniff my Pistachio balm obsessively now because it smells AWESOME.

Have you ever tried Crazy Rumors balms? Which flavors sound the most appealing to you?

  2. Ooh, which ones did you get? I browsed their spring collection pretty hard, but didn't buy anything because I'm trying to be nice to my wallet.

  5. I got the Lavender Vanilla, I think somewhere in my mind thinking it was actually Lavender Honey (I'm obsessed with that combination), and Strawberry and Black Pepper, because that sounded awesome. Among a couple of other things. :)

  6. Strawberry and black pepper sounds AWESOME. I have a spicy strawberry scent from another indie perfumer (which I should probably write about someday) and it's so, so delicious.

  11. These sounds fun! I like balms with a bit of color. But I won't be buying any balm for a long long while. I really think I am set for life haha

  12. I have never tried Crazy Rumors. As a self-confessed lip balm junkie I am definitely intrigued. Playing shoping cart tetris also appeals to me.

  14. I so have these in my faves on shoplately! Thanks for the review! I think I am going to spend my remaining credit on a black cross body bag though. I keep putting it in my cart and deleting it - IDK why since it will be like $10 after shipping. I'm feeling cheap.

  15. Me too! They have a few other tinted balms too, but I haven't tried any of the others yet.

  16. Haha, I can understand that. I feel like it's *sort of* OK for me to keep buying lip balm because I do use it up pretty quickly... that said, I may have a few in reserve. :P

  18. I'll check it out in a bit! Happy Friday! :)

  19. A bag probably would have been more practical than lip balm, lol. If I still had credit I would probably get this "banana split" necklace I saw on there - not practical either, but so much fun!

  20. I am now trolling through iHerb.com I am probably going to get some of these lip balms soon I want so many flavours!!! They seem like grown up lipsmackers.

  21. Hah, that's a fun was to think about it! I don't think Crazy Rumors is as cloyingly sweet as Lipsmackers, so I guess "grown up" is right. They still smell tasty though.

  22. I have already picked out a few that I will order soon! Orange Creamsicle and spiced chai are among them!
