Indie Friday: Ginger's Wild Handmade Soaps

PR Sample

Happy weekend, everybody! For this week's Indie Friday, I'm pleased to be featuring some bathtime treats from a company based right here in Brooklyn: Ginger's Wild!

ginger's wild soap co. etsy

Ginger's Wild Soap Co. is an Etsy shop specializing in lovely handmade soaps, though they also have some lotion bars in the shop at the moment as well. The soaps normally sell for $5.95 per 5oz bar (or 4 for $20). Jackie (the owner) sent me a few scented sample bars for review, so I'll be focusing on those for today.

1. Sea Glass:
This was the first soap I reached for out of the batch. Is it the bright blue color that caught me eye? I don't know, but it has a light and pleasant aquatic scent. I love it!

2. Black Bikini:
I'm not sure what the "official" notes for this soap are... to me it smells like ripe blackberries with a soft, sultriness underneath. Stan described it as "grapey and soapy". I'm thinking the fruitiness isn't just in my head then.

3. Oatmeal, Milk & Honey:
I made Stan sniff this without telling him what it was and he said "sweet porridge?" Spot on, spot on. If you don't know what sweet porridge would smell like in soap form, it's comforting and homey and creamy. I kind of want to eat it, but thankfully I know better. :)

4. Pink Angel:
Fresh and soft. The embodiment of pink. I made Stan smell this one too (because his reviews are sooooo helpful) and he said "Girl pink FRESHNESS!" Well OK then.

Overall impressions:

I like the formula of these soaps. They do lather up a bit, and I feel like they make me feel clean without stripping my skin of moisture. The fragrances are lovely and definitely perceptible in the shower, though they're not so overwhelming that they'll leave you reeking of perfume all day long. Good stuff all around.

Some of the other soap varieties in the shop look really pretty in addition to sounding scrumptious - I'm talking about you, Wakey Wakey.

Ooooh, blue.

Where to buy: You can find Ginger's Wild on Etsy. I'd recommend following them on Facebook or Twitter if you're interested in the brand, because coupon codes tend to pop up there now and then. :)

What do you think of Ginger's Wild? Which of the scents I mentioned sounds most appealing to you?

  1. I'll keep these in mind next time I soap it up on Etsy. The sea glass and black bikini appeal to me, but I do like soaps that have scrubby stuff in them like the oatmeal looks it may have.

  5. I loved these soaps when I saw them on insta and love them even more now that I actually read about them. Like you I was immediately drawn to that beautiful blue color; I think an aquatic smell would be so fitting. The Black Bikini and Pink Angel are my other faves. Bath products are so great both for decoration and actual use and it's really awesome that these are hand made. <3 XOXO, Elif

  8. They are! I let Stan use one earlier and he kept sniffing it and saying "FRESH!" over and over again. That's his catchphrase, apparently.

  9. I agree! Though when soaps and things like that are *too* pretty I get scared to use them... I always feel like I should be saving them for something special!

  17. I think the cubes are only for sampling purposes, but I agree! It would actually be fun if she made a sampler set like this for purchase.

  18. Going to give them a check out from this post, the blue soap is really pretty. The color would make me not want to use it even.
