Dr. Young Anti Pore Pore Erasing Balm (Primer) Review & GIVEAWAY!

Affiliate Links Press Sample

Silicone face primers seem to be a polarizing force in the beauty world. Some people love them, others hate them, and others still are scared to try them after hearing horror stories of breaking out. While I can't promise that the things I review won't cause you skin issues, I would like to put forward the following product as something that I, at the very least, have had a good experience with: Dr. Young Anti Pore Pore Eraser Balm. Double the pore, double the fun.

This product was featured in the original Memebox Makeup Edition Box. I didn't receive that particular box, but you can read a detailed review at Fanserviced-B if you're curious. I was really intrigued when I read that unboxing, so I was really thrilled when Memebox offered to send me one to review. And guess what? They sent me an extra to give away too! Wheeeeee! But before all the Rafflecopter hoopla, let's take a look at the attributes of this product.

Official Memebox product description:
Enriched with witch hazel extracts, Swiss alpine herb extracts, marine collagen, and vitamin 5, the pore eraser balm is a primer perfect for featuring the soft, silky porcelain skin. This pore primer will ll in all the ne lines and enlarged pores and control excess sebum for a long-lasting look. How to use:
After skincare, apply adequate amount on areas with visible pores or oily spots.

Dr. Young Anti Pore Pore Erasing Balm Memebox

The Dr. Young Anti Pore Balm comes housed in a sturdy glass jar. There's only 15g of product in there, but a little goes quite a long way.

Ingredients:

Dr. Young Anti Pore Pore Erasing Balm Memebox ingredients

As you can see, this is a silicone primer. Personally I *LOVE* primers like this because they have a wonderful smoothing/blurring effect, but if you know silicone ingredients are a problem for you, you may want to steer clear.

The balm has a light, beige-y color in the jar, but it blends out to be nearly translucent on the skin.

Dr. Young Anti Pore Pore Erasing Balm Memebox swatch

As you can see it's pretty much invisible on my hand, and has had a distinct "blurring" effect. This is exactly what I want: No makeup item on this earth is actually going to make your pores smaller, but this sort of blurring effect (especially when used under other makeup) will make them look less noticeable, for lack of a better explanation. Oh, and it has a light perfumey scent, if anyone was wondering. It's not overwhelming but if fragranced things make you sneeze just be aware of that.

I've tried a bunch of different silicone primers and amazingly enough, this one actually seems unique to me. I find that with some clear primers (like Smashbox or the ELF primer) your makeup can get a bit "slidey" once you start sweating. Since we're in the middle of gross, sticky summer that's a thing that's bound to happen. This primer not only didn't make my makeup slide off my face, but I also feel like it didn't make me feel any shinier. Very, very interesting. I may have found something I can actually use on my sweaty/oily nose in this nasty, humid summer.

I do have one complaint about the product: It comes in a jar. Not the most hygienic thing ever. I use plenty of other things in jars though so for me it's only a minor nuisance.

Sound like something you might enjoy? Well here's a chance to win one for yourself!

  19. Oh heard good things about this pore balm so I am really excited to try it out!
My favorite pore balm is actually from Clinique, but I saw Get it beauty blind test and it didnt rate as well as the korean pore balms. I have never tried an asian pore balm though so I think I should really do that soon. So far my experience has been almost always that the asian products were superior to the western counter parts.
Have you tried the clinique pore balm at all?

  34. Wow it really does blur things out, but man is that a lot of silicones. I'm a little cautious about using such a heavy silicone-based product, but maybe on days when you need long-lasting wear it might be handy. I imagine if you have oilier skin, this would not be very good for you?

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's hard for me to say because I don't have really oily skin. I noticed in the product description that they recommend applying it to "oily spots", but if you're really oily all over I'm not sure how well it would hold up. It does seem to be lighter and less slippery though than something like Smashbox primer, for example.

    ReplyDelete
  36. this looks so cool!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have kind of dry skin so I really hope this primer works without making it feel too dry like a bunch of products I have tried before!
