Now that fall (and jacket weather—brr!) is in full swing, I thought this would be a good time to share my swatches of Butter London's recent collaboration with Allure Magazine, the Arm Candy Collection. Arm Candy consists of six fashion-forward, fall-tastic shades in a variety of finishes, so there's something to please everybody. Even better yet, Butter London has provided me with an extra set of nail lacquers to give away to a lucky reader—yay! Read on to find your new favorite shade for autumn.
Like most Butter London nail lacquers, the Arm Candy collection polishes are housed in 11ml bottles and retail for $15 apiece. You can purchase them online from the following retailers:
I'M ON THE LIST: Metallic pinkish-rose gold. Goes on super-opaque with just one coat—I like!
LUST OR MUST?: This is kind of a strange color—it looks almost dark green to me in the bottle, but it's more of a dark/muddy charcoal brown crème. I think this shade is quite chic, though it goes on surprisingly sheer—you will need at least two coats to get it at its full potential.
NUDE STILETTOS: A pinkish-nude crème. This was by far the sheerest polish of the collection—still sheer even after three coats. I think it's subtle and pretty though, and certainly versatile.
STATEMENT PIECE: A very red-orange crème that's quite opaque, even with just one coat. This one feels lot like a 50s pin-up red to me—vibrant and spicy!
IT'S VINTAGE: A rusty-red crème. The name seems very appropriate in this case, as this color reminds me of a pair of pants my dad used to wear when I was a small child back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, hahaha.
DISCO NAP: Stunning textured silver glitter in a charcoal base. Have I mentioned that this is STUNNING? Because it's really, really gorgeous. I like all of the polishes in this collection, but Disco Nap is the only one I can picture myself wearing every day of the week. From day to night to day and back again!
As for wear time: I have tested all of these on my actual fingers, and all of them except for LUST OR MUST? help up well on me for about five days before they started to chip significantly. For whatever reason LUST OR MUST? chipped on me after about three days, which was a shame because the color is so wonderful. That could just be a coincidence though—I have bad hair days sometimes, so maybe I also have bad finger days?
Overall I'm really impressed with the Allure & Butter London Arm Candy collection. I feel like there's a nice mixture of shades that scream FALL FALL FALL! (like LUST OR MUST?) and others that could easily be worn any day of the year (like NUDE STILETOS). I also think the wear time on most of the shades was excellent—I'm extremely hard on my hands, so a lot of polishes tend to chip on me after two or three days. I was especially impressed with DISCO NAP—glitters have a tendency to flake off on me after a little while, but this one stayed put! Woo.
