How I'll Be Stuffing My Boyfriend's Stocking This Christmas

Affiliate Links Bought It

Now that I've got your attention with that saucy post title, would you like to see what I bought for my boyfriend's Christmas stocking? All of the responses to my gifts for men poll and male gift guides floating around the blogosphere lead me to believe I'm not the only one who finds their significant other difficult to shop for, so perhaps this post will provide some inspiration.

Please note: I will be using stock images in this post because I already have some of this stuff wrapped/bundled up! Also, a lot of the things I bought came from ASOS because I happened to be shopping on there anyway, but many of them have equivalents on other websites or even at a store near you, GASP.

ASOS Touchscreen Gloves ($9.98)

Gloves are always a practical gift, and this type of glove will come in extra-handy this year as he just got his first phone with a touchscreen (we're technology dinosaurs, I know). You can find these everywhere nowadays - if the ASOS ones don't appeal I'd recommend checking out the selection on Amazon, as they have options from a number of different brands.

Anatomicals "Snog Me Senseless" Mints ($2.81)

Edibles are an essential part of Christmas stockings, and the packaging on these mints made me laugh. I think novelty mints/candy in general would make great stocking stuffers - if these mints aren't quite your taste I'd recommend checking out the candy selection at Archie McPhee for more laughs. Wasabi candy canes, anyone?

Chocolove Mini Chocolate Bars ($1.23 each)

Speaking of edibles, chocolates are a popular Christmas item (assuming you're not allergic). Both my boyfriend and I are really fond of Chocolove dark chocolates so I'll be slipping a couple of these into his stocking - my favorites are the Orange Peel and Almonds with Sea Salt varieties.

Mini Flashlight Keychain (from eBay, $0.99)

Miniature tools like eyeglass repair kits and flashlights make great stocking stuffers because they're the sorts of things that get lost or broken easily. If you're going the keychain route, you could also consider keychain bottle openers, pill cases etc. Not exactly romantic, but practical!

Anatomicals Face Wash & Moisturizer ($7.26 each)

I can't speak for all men, but my boyfriend WILL NOT buy himself moisturizer. It's a bit ridiculous because his face gets extremely dry in the winter, but apparently spending $10 on something that would heal his chapped face is too extravagant? We've lived together for about three years now and I've discovered that if I give him facial care stuff (or offer to share mine) he will use it, so I make sure to pick some up for every gift-giving occasion. To be honest, I'm not sure if the Anatomicals stuff is geared towards men or women, but I think as long as it's not in a pink tube with hearts he's not going to care. If you're thinking of buying some men's facial care products but want something that's actually "for men" I recommend checking out Bulldog as that's gone over well in past years.

Anatomicals Java Lather Coffee Buzz Body Cleanser ($5.44)

While we're on the subject of personal care, might I suggest throwing in some soaps or body wash? Bar soap is a bit more stocking-friendly than liquid soap, but I know my boyfriend doesn't really use it so shower gel it was. I'm still not sure if coffee scented body wash will smell delicious or disgusting - he loves coffee in any case, so I'm sure he'll enjoy the novelty of it at least.

ASOS Fish Print Tie ($5.44)

I've given my boyfriend quite a few silly ties over the years, and this Christmas will be no exception. Some of my best "wacky" necktie finds have actually come from thrift stores and vintage shops, so neckwear doesn't necessarily have to be an expensive inclusion. Scarves would also be good. Just saying.

Moleskine Pocket Notebook 2-set ($5.95)

The new year is a time to start fresh, so of course fresh planners and notebooks make useful gifts. My boyfriend likes tiny notebooks like these because he can shove them in his pocket along with his wallet - perfect for jotting down thoughts and lists on the go.

ASOS Block Patterned Socks ($5.44)

HOW CAN YOU HAVE A CHRISTMAS STOCKING WITHOUT FUNNY SOCKS?! OK, maybe a lot of people do. But in my opinion colorful socks make the best stocking stuffers ever, and if the recipient has an appreciation for the kitschy there is no shortage of wacky novelty socks to choose from. I went a bit tamer with my sock choice this year because I want my boyfriend to actually be able to wear them to work. Looks like this exact design is no longer available on the ASOS website, but there are a number of others to choose from.

That's it for my stocking stuffer list... I'm never sure if I got enough stuff, but looking over this it seems like a good amount. Maybe. I might get some candy canes or extra sweets to throw in there. Sorry, dentists.

How will you be stuffing the stockings of your loved ones this year?

    1. I'm sure if it smells bad he'll tell me. :P Hmm, perhaps I should do a future post on coffee-scented bath items...

  2. I wish, wish, wish I could get my guy to wear gloves but he just won't even though I'd love to buy him some for stocking fillers! Its rather handy having a husband that collects things because it's an endless source of ideas (he collects vintage Transformers toys and vinyl), also framed up a gig poster we grabbed earlier this year that was frame-less and the annual comic book inspired tee.

    1. Hah, it's funny that he won't wear them... doesn't it get quite cold where you are?! Agreed that it's MUCH easier to shop for collectors. The only thing my boyfriend seems to collect is books, but he's constantly checking new things out of the library so I'm worried I'll buy him things he's already read.

    2. Yeah today is -11C and he's still refusing to wear them when we went to the Post Office this morning ... talk about being stubborn haha!

  3. I love the name of the mints. Perfect to give to a significant other. Weirder as a gift to a sibling.

  5. Haha, the post title sucked me in. Since I'm long-distance and international, I'm just sending my boyfriend a comic he likes that he can't get where he lives. Not super exciting, but hopefully he'll like it.

    1. I'm sure he'll love it! Thoughtful gifts are the best gifts. Speaking of which, my boyfriend "hinted" that it "might be OK" if I got him some facial care stuff this time. My ways are rubbing off on him.
