My Weird Wishlist: Beauty... IN SPACE!!!

Happy OH CRAP TAXES ARE DUE day, everyone! Will you be getting a refund? I'm getting a small one so naturally I've started to think about all the interesting things I could purchase with it.

Today I thought I'd share a few interesting beauty items I've come across recently that all have something in common: They're out of this world! Get it? Har har. (Someone stop me now, please. Think of the children.) Do you have a tax refund burning a hole in your virtual pocket too? Well, here are some spending suggestions for you. You're welcome.

BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Baked Eyeshadow Palette
($14.95):

Ipsy sent out little samples from this palette a few months ago. While I wasn't lucky enough to receive one, I have been coveting it pretty hard since then... Pretty colors? Check. An awesome planetary theme? And how! Apparently I'm not willing to move heaven and earth (har har har) to get my hands on it, but I keep sighing at the pictures so maybe I should just suck it up and buy it already?

Comet Vomit Big Balm Theory Bubble Gum Flavored Lip Balm by ($3.00):

From the GemCityTiffany Etsy shop

From the Etsy product description: As the Big Bang super heated and cooled the ingredients to form the universe, I have lovingly melted down pure organic bee's wax and organic cocoa butter, mixed them with essential oils and vitamins and cooled the mixture to create these nourishing out-of-this-world lip balms.

Space-themed indie lip balm with a sense of humor? I'll take a hundred.

Sleek i-Divine Palette in Celestial ($11.99):

From the Sleek website

The Sleek i-Divine palettes are another one of those things that I have looked at repeatedly, but never gotten around to purchasing. I believe the "Celestial" palette came out around the holidays, and it's filled with lots of lovely sparkly shades that probably would have been perfect to wear to Christmas parties. It might not be Christmas anymore, but it's a party on my eyelids every day so I still want it.

Novelty mirror compacts in Trip to Mars and Galaxy Stars ($12.50 each):

These items/images are from seller che655 on eBay. I'm not sure if this qualifies are embarrassing or funny, but the mirror compact I'm currently carrying around in my purse is a red plastic one branded with the Little Debbie logo. Someone was giving them out at a street festival. Why was Little Debbie giving out mirrors emblazoned with their logos as opposed to snacks? I'll never know. But in any case I'd love to upgrade to one of these cool, spacey compacts - they look fun and contain both a regular mirror and a magnifier mirror, which is actually pretty useful.

Darling Girl Cosmetics Stardust Glitter Topcoat Collection ($3.75-$7.00 each):

Screenshot from the Darling Girl website

Science quiz time: This collection is named after a bunch of moons. Can you tell me which planet each one goes with? I'll be honest - I had to look a couple of them up. Thanks for the inadvertent astronomy lesson, Darling Girl. Anyway, these glitter topcoats are meant to worn over other pigments or eyeshadow bases for a stunning, sparkly, multi-dimensional effect. There are swatches on the product pages, which I recommend looking at if you want to spend all of your money right now. Charon and Prometheus are my favorites, in case anyone was wondering.

Starrily Nail Lacquer Glitter Toppers in Starveganza and Space Candy ($12.00 each):

Screenshots from the Starrily website

Space-themed and star-shaped glitter topcoats seem to be a bit of a "thing" with nail polish companies these days, but I was especially drawn to this duo by Starrily because the color combos are just so great. I bet both of them would look awesome over a dark base (like navy or purple). Mysterious like the night sky.

Darling Clandestine Supernova Sway Fragrance ($9.00 for the solid, $18.00 for the oil):

From the Darling Clandestine Etsy shop

This isn't technically on my wishlist because I've already tried it, but it should be on yours. That, and I'd like to pick up a bigger bottle eventually. The Etsy shop listing describes it as "Dark and bright and dark and bright again, deep musks streaked with mint, black resins with subtle flashes of orchid and buttery honeysuckle." That may sound like an odd description for a scent, but it's actually sort of accurate. To me it smells like swirling black and flowery purple with an almost metallic edge - sort of how I'd imagine distant stars to smell, if they could have a scent. It's weird but actually very wearable and appealing at the same time.

That's it for this edition of My Weird Wishlist... do you own any of the products on this list? If so, are they worth picking up? And if you have any other suggestions for spaced-out beauty goodies feel free to share them in the comments!

  4. Nothing weird about your wishlist. The BH palette is totally lust-able. I am a bit bothered that Pluto is missing. I miss the little guy.

  5. Yeah, what's up with that? Pluto was always my planet of choice for primary school science reports.

  6. Totally. Maybe BH will introduce a special Pluto-only single.

  7. I feel like Pluto is a missed opportunity here. What if we could vote on the color, or crowdsource it?

  11. Haha! Let me know what they say. I'm curious to see how they deal with more "interesting" customer service queries.

  12. I agree! Now if only the magic cosmetics fairy would visit me...

  13. Yes! You should totally check out Sleek's other palettes btw (if you haven't already). Lots of interesting colors. I think they have a brights palette or two you may like as well.

  14. I really want the sleek acid palette! Sleek isn't sold in Canada though. I will be visiting my friend in England eventually so I am going to get as much sleek makeup as possible then!

  15. Last I checked you can order off their website! The shipping isn't totally outrageous either. I just added one i-Divine palette to my cart and it listed the shipping rate to the US as $1.34 for airmail without tracking or $6.56 for delivery with tracking.

  16. That's awesome! Maybe I won't wait then. I am about to bust my spending ban finally and get some new goodies!

  17. I love this post! I've always been fascinated by space (who hasn't?). Those lip balms sound especially wonderful, I hoard them, so I'll definitely have to check that out!

  19. Oh god Rebecca, why did I click this? Why why why..I can't afford to buy anything right now but that first palette is calling my name. "Sam-ple-hi-me"--I can hear it now. Far off in a distant galaxy. I love space, I love astronomy, astrophysics is amazing, and any makeup that can make me feel closer to the stars is welcome. :) I'm bookmarking this for payday.

  20. Bah! I got a totally automated type response saying they'd passed my message along to product development.

  21. Grr. Clearly that customer service rep doesn't take the plight of Pluto seriously.

  22. Haha, glad to "help". I've been fascinated with space (and science fiction having to do with space) for a long time, so these speak to me too. :)

  23. The BH Cosmetics palette has been on my radar for months. And I bought the Galatea glitter, but haven't found an occasion to use it. I'm planning on going to the drugstore today, so I guess today would be perfect.

  24. Sounds ideal to me! I like being sparkly while I comparison shop for toilet paper.

  25. OMG Now, I have a new wishlist! Those nail gitters are so beautiful!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I know, right?! I especially like "Space Candy".

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOVE this list! Have you seen sleek products in stores anywhere? I never have!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sleek is a UK brand so I think you can find it in Superdrug (and maybe other drugstores?) over there... I don't know of any US shops that carry it though. But the shipping prices to the US on their website are really reasonable!

I am a true moon child having been born under the ruling moon as a cancer and while the astronauts were actually walking on the moon. I have a delightful affection for anything galactic. This post is amongst the greatest of these delights. You never cease to amaze me you wonderfully enigmatic beauty. Thank you for being you because I think its quite lovely!
