Happy Wednesday, everybody! Is your week driving your crazy so far or has it been smooth sailing? Oh, life.
This week's question is for those of you who spend a lot of time on the internet. Which I'm guessing is most of you, seeing how this is an internet blog and whatnot.
What's your favorite social media network at the moment and why? How about your least favorite?
I think my favorite right now is Instagram (Shameless self-promotion: Follow me!) I follow a variety of accounts, and some of them are really creative, which is AWESOME. I also see some people using it as sort of a way to microblog: Writing short reviews, beauty techniques, etc. Very cool.
My least favorite at the moment probably won't surprise anyone: Facebook. (Here's a less enthusiastic follow me.) As a blogger it's annoying that they only serve up my posts to about 1/10th of my followers on average, and as a personal user I find the way the "News Feed" a lot more confusing than it used to be. Stop being selective about which of my friends' baby pictures you're willing to show me, FB.
How about you? What are your social media loves and pet peeves?
I agree with you on both. I love Instagram and am always tempted to just delete Facebook!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I want to zap Facebook from space! Seriously. The only reason I still use my personal page as much as I do is because some of my friends refuse to move on from it!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Pinterest is great for all three of those things! I love looking at home decor posts there too. It's mostly wishful thinking because we live in a rental apartment, but maybe someday I'll be able to paint my walls all those pretty colors. :P
ReplyDeleteFavorite: Twitter. It's great for multiple conversations, for quick updates on what people are doing. Least favorite: Facebook. It was low on the totem pole of "useful sites" -=before=- they started futzing with the feeds. When I follow a page, that means I want to see what they post, all the time! Not just some of the time. Ya maroons...
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is probably Instagram too and a picture speaks a thousands words plus I love following International people as I get to see different parts of the worlds I wouldn't otherwise see! :)
ReplyDeleteLeast favourite ooh controversial but possibly Twitter I mean I love it and loathe it at the same as with most social media it seems like a negative place to be at times! :( xx

Haha, exactly! Why on earth would I only want to see "select" posts from people I follow? Twitter is probably my second-fave after Instagram. I think it's really smart that Twitter added the ability to post inline images, because that makes it good for chat/updates AND occasionally sharing images.
ReplyDeleteEh, I can understand the love-hate thing with Twitter. I love how versatile Twitter can be, but it's true that some people do get negative on there, especially during chats. I try to ignore that side of it!
ReplyDeleteI love Instagram, but my favorite is definitely Tumblr. I waste so much time on there, and it lets me indulge in my more fandom-related interests (I love posting gifs!). My least favorite is definitely Facebook. I only keep my account for blog purposes and to follow other blogs/companies.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love Instagram, too! I like that it's all pretty much original posts, not reblogs, so I can get to the newest, most original stuff easily. And I like the format because it allows me to pull together my two blogs into one account (I'm shocked that people bear with me through some of my posts aahaha). AND the comments feature is so liberating--I can actually respond to comments while jumping down the street; Disqus on my blog is just not mobile-friendly. Least favorite: well, more like have no use for them...Twitter and Pinterest. They don't seem like they fit my style, so I haven't really bothered to engage with them much. ahaha And, of course, Tumblr is my home. <3
ReplyDeleteI've never really used Tumblr at all. It seems great for sharing images though. But Facebook, blah. They've also started showing me all these creepy diet ads lately and I'm like ummmmm no thanks. >:-(
ReplyDeleteFor me it is twitter. Love conversing with the nerds, the vegans, the hipsters, the young, the beauty addicted, and humorous! Least favorite, LinkedIn. I don't know why I joined, I have really no use for it. I don't have Facebook, if I did that would be my least favorite.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people have problems with Disqus on mobile. It works fine on both of my devices though so ... I don't know what problems are typical. But Instagram is way easier to just flick through! I see people pinning K-pop stuff on Pinterest sometimes, but it really seems better suited to domestic endeavors: Recipes, home decor and DIY stuff, beauty tutorials etc. Twitter works best if you like constant interaction. Probably not everybody's cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I forgot about LinkedIn! I actually deleted my account because I barely used it and they kept pestering me with e-mails. So I guess *that* would be my least favorite.
ReplyDeleteInstagram is probably my favorite as well for now! I love looking at pictures that others take. As for my least favorite, probably Twitter. I never quite got the hype of it, and hardly ever use it. Facebook is okay, but the "News Feed" part is annoying. Also, recently Facebook started forcing their mobile users to download a separate app to for messaging. Talk about being a pain in the ass. =__=
ReplyDeleteHaha yes, I'm seeing a LOT of people ranting about that messaging app on my personal FB page. I haven't downloaded it yet ... not sure I want to after seeing so many people complain. :P
ReplyDeleteFav is instagram--easy and fun to use. Least fav is Twitter..I hate the limited text amount, I just don't get the point of it really...I hate when people bitch and write about drama on facebook..how old are we 12?
ReplyDeleteHaha. I just try to avoid drama outright. I think Twitter makes the most sense if you think of it as one giant chat room ... it requires constant interaction to get the most out of it, I think.
ReplyDeleteFavorite prolly Instagram too. Does Tumblr count as social media or just plain microblogging? That might tie with instagram. Agreed that Facebook is trash.
ReplyDeleteeeek! Same here as well. Instagram is so addictive. I think I barely use facebook page lol
ReplyDeleteThe consensus in this thread seems to be that Tumblr is a social media platform. I've always thought of it more as a microblogging thing, but I've also never used it so I guess I'll go with the majority of folks who do use it. :P
ReplyDeleteYes! I look through instagram all the time, even if I'm not posting.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Instagram. It's been my go-to social media outlet (Idk what you'd call it?) for a year. It's easier to find people with similar interests and there's more interaction going on. I don't like Twitter, but I don't use it (except for tweeting about giveaways) so out of the other social media I use I like Facebook the least. I try to share neat things, but no one interacts with me there. I don't know if it's an issue of whether or not I show up on anyone's feed or if people are even using it, but I get the vibe that everyone is either cold or self-involved. I keep it to stay in contact with family that lives out of the country.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet your posts on Facebook just aren't showing up in a lot of people's feeds. When you run a Facebook "fan page" (as opposed to your personal page) you can see how many people your posts are served to ... right now HelloPrettyBird has about 700 followers on FB, and most of my posts only get served to 50-100 people. Not good odds, man. But Instagram is way more fun! I have fewer followers/people I follow on there but there's still more interaction with other people.
ReplyDeleteI'm addicted to instagram)
ReplyDeleteAnd least favourite.. in twitter because I follow too many people and they tweet too much,I can't keep up with their tweets at all\\
I follow a few hundred people on Twitter and I certainly can't keep up with every single thing people post! I do sometimes use it to follow certain hashtags though, and I feel like that narrows things down a bit. Or sometimes I'll just tune in for a bit to see what randomness people are posting right then and there. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Instagram, I find it really easy and quick and I love seeing photos attached to short reviews, etc. My least fave is twitter, it moves too fast for me and I pretty much only use it for tweeting about giveaways, that kind of thing! I love following all you lovely bloggers on IG!
ReplyDeleteI see a lot of accounts on Twitter that seem to consist about 90% of giveaway RTs, so you're not alone there. Honestly, before I started blogging again I mainly used it for that kind of thing myself!
