This week's question was inspired by other bloggers. Hi, other bloggers. I've seen a lot of "What's in my handbag?" type posts/videos, which I think are fun to read, mostly because I'm ridiculously nosy. I probably won't ever do one of those tags myself though because the real contents of my bag is probably something like 90% crumpled paper and used tissues (allergies, yo.) Perhaps there are others of you like me out there. Which brings me to my question ....
What beauty/personal care items do you always keep in your purse or backpack?
Makeup comes and goes from my cesspool of a bag, but these things usually remain:
- Lip balm: Dry lips make me crazy. Nuff said.
- Hand cream: See above, except replace lips with hands.
- Tissues: My body consists mainly of allergic reactions to things you can inhale. That, and you do not want to be using a public restroom only to discover there's no toilet paper.
- Sunscreen: I get crispy easily. This is where all those tiny beauty box samples of SPF come in handy.
- Hand sanitizer: Never go into a public restroom in NYC without it.
Throw in a lipstick and you're ready for ANYTHING. Even the bathroom at Penn Station.
I recently upgraded to one of those roomy purses and now I feel like I can fit my entire room in there. Although I usually can't find them because of all that fantastic extra legroom, I usually keep a mirror, concealer, (2!) lip balms, hand cream, two more moisturizers, hand sanitizer, Wet-Naps, Kleenex, a Tide to-go pen, a rollerball, and a tiny first aid kit. In reality the only things I've actually used are the sanitizer and lip balms. Maybe it's time to clean out my bag of wonders...
ReplyDeleteHaha, the purse I use most often is ENORMOUS. I often have multiple lip balms too. And a little mirror. And sometimes wet-naps, when I can remember. And now that I think of it, usually some tampons and Tylenol too because surprise visits from Aunt Flo are not good. Cleaning out my purse is always fun because I always find little things I forgot I had.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a tissue hoarder... my purse looks like my grandma's. Full of tissues, mints, lipbalm/lipstick, old receipts, and bandaids. I go to so many doctor appointments and I typically bleed through the bandaids they put on me, so I actually bring more of my own. It's a hard life. I also bring a notebook to write down thoughts/things I overhear in, and of course, my Kindle.
ReplyDeleteBandaids are definitely a handy thing to carry, even if you're not constantly getting jabbed by needles. I try to keep a few in my wallet for accidental papercuts and stuff but of course I end up using them and forgetting to replace them.
ReplyDeleteBeauty item wise, I carry lipstick, lipgloss, and powder. And Kleenex. Always. Not only for a runny nose, but to blot myself when I get sweaty.
ReplyDeleteKleenex really are great multitaskers. This is reminding me that I'm nearly out of the little purse packs ...
ReplyDeleteI usually carry some general go to items like a mini hairbrush and mirror, at least 2 lip products (idk why, there always seems to be two in my bag at a time) and my wallet. But I have gotten into the habit of carrying a sketchbook and art supplies around too
ReplyDeleteMust. have. lip balm. At all times! And a natural one at that. I don't like Chapsticks or non-natural ones, too waxy. I also always have to have a lotion. I really hate having dry skin, if you couldn't tell! Other than that, an antibacterial, some gum, and then the usual license/wallet/that kind of nonsense are usually my only essentials.
ReplyDeleteI always have to have lip balm and/or lipstick, a small mirror, and hand cream.
ReplyDeleteI'm always rushing, so I throw my main touchup tools with me. Eyeliner, blotting papers, and that day's lipstick. Not makeup related, but I try to keep a neutral pair of earrings and a necklace with me too, just in case I want to dress to impress halfway through the day.
ReplyDeleteHaha mine is DEF a million lip sticks, oil blotting papers, hand cream, and a mirror!
ReplyDeleteI always end up with more lip products in my bag than anything else. Got to have variety, maybe?
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of picky about my lip balms too. I actually don't mind Chapstick, but if I don't like scent or texture I just can't use it! Have you ever tried Crazy Rumors? Those come in fun flavors and definitely fall under the "natural" category.
ReplyDeleteHand cream and lip balm definitely seem to be "musts" for a lot of people! I seriously go crazy if I don't have lip balm. I'll buy a new one if I'm out, even if I have more at home.
ReplyDeleteNice, I like jewelry idea! I do sometimes bring makeup along with me ... usually just lipstick and eyeliner. Maybe concealer too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't list lipstick as one of my essentials, but I'm sure if I rummaged through my purse right now there would be at least four in there, haha!
