Happy Wednesday everybody! Have you been working hard or hardly working? (I wouldn't blame you if it's the latter.)
This week's question was inspired by my own real-life experience attending a picnic this past weekend:
You're invited to a picnic and asked to bring food to share. What do you bring?
Since I was attending my own recent picnic as an out-of-town guest I didn't exactly have time to prepare an elaborate feast, so I brought chips and hummus and pico de gallo. Could be worse. Normally I would make pasta salad or something like that. Others brought things like bread and cheese, quinoa with veggies, and fruit. Mmm, fruit.
How about you? What do you like to snack on whilst lounging outdoors?
I would say a cheese and cracker platter or some type of mini sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteDeviled eggs!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your folks' discipline to bring healthy food to the table. I'll normally bring something grossly high in calories like fried chicken or brownies.
ReplyDeleteA classic!
ReplyDeleteBeing a vegetarian for many years prevents me from bringing fried chicken. Brownies are not a bad idea though ... I did once bake 48 chocolate muffins for a picnic. I think maybe a dozen of them actually got eaten on the day. I was bored. :P
ReplyDeleteBoth great ideas! I would totally make little sandwiches if I hadn't been coming from out of town the day before.
ReplyDeleteI've been on a goat cheese binge and have found a store that sells great goat cheese with honey in it for a reasonable price, so I'd probably bring that with some fresh fruit and some ~bubbly wine~ :)
ReplyDeleteI just saw a recipe for guacamole deviled eggs! I wonder how that would turn out...
ReplyDeleteI'd probably bring either tea sandwiches or chips, knowing my friends who do like junk food. And maybe some cookies? As for me, I'd rather snack on fruit.
ReplyDeleteA very classy choice! My friend who was organizing the picnic actually suggested that people bring wine, but the closest thing anyone got was Miller Lite. Not quite the same as bubbly. :P
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the guacomole deviled eggs but I made a recipe using an avocado and they were delicious!
ReplyDeleteChips are super-easy and people will always eat them, so that's not such a bad idea. I like fruit better too though. Preferably already cut up if I'm going to be eating it outside.
ReplyDeleteI think bringing a really refreshing juice would be nice, or popsicles. Something to help you cool off after being in the sun!
ReplyDeleteMy mom always makes her signature brownies for a potluck! They're a crowdpleaser :)
ReplyDeleteI'd be worried that the popsicles would melt! Maybe if you have a sturdy cooler though. I'm sure anything cold would be welcome on a hot afternoon ....
ReplyDeleteOoh, rice krispie treats sound good! Orzo salad seems like a perfect picnic food to me. Any grain salad, really.
ReplyDeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!
ReplyDeleteDeviled eggs or maybe ambrosia salad.
